Astounding Aomori ~sights, sounds and tastes of Mutsu City ~ was held successfully on Friday and Saturday, 8 and 9 March 2024. The event kicked started exclusively on the first day by JCC Director Ms Akiko Kawabe and a special video message from Mr Tomoya Yamamoto, the Mayor of Mutsu City.

The event showcased the charms and flavours of Aomori Prefecture, which was presented by Mr Kosuke Iida of Fifty One Media and NUS students who participated in the “Aomori Global Advance Project”, a project aimed at enriching understanding of local culture and building ties with local students shared their experience of their stint in Aomori.

Following which, participants not only had a chance to sample local products such as apple juice, salmon, and scallops on both days, but also the opportunity to have their photo taken against a Nebuta background, which is an iconic symbol of the Aomori Summer Festival, and enjoy a mini concert by Aomori’s very own J-Pop group RICEBALL! On the second day of the event, participants were also able to experience and enjoy a variety of summer festival games.
