Konnichiwa!
Spring arrived in Singapore last month, in the form of Sakura featuring tokidoki at Gardens by the Bay! I am delighted that I was able to appreciate the beautiful sight of blooming cherry blossoms once again this year, and I believe that it was a wonderful opportunity for all of the visitors to enjoy the view of spring in this tropical country. JCC also distributed multiple brochures related to Japan in the Flower Dome, and it was heartening to see everyone take a great interest in them. Did you take any of the brochures too? I hope they will be good reference for your next trip to Japan!
Last month, JCC also held the exhibition entitled "The Art of Living: Creative Communities in the 21st Century –Tottori and Kamiyama –”. It was a most intriguing exhibition, and I was glad to have participated in the online discussion by Dr Simone Chung and Associate Professor Motohiro Koizumi, which provided further insights about creating alternative spaces and revitalising the community. It proved to be a thought-provoking session, prompting much discussion among the audience too.
In a blink of an eye, we are already three months into this year. While the regulations have been slightly relaxed, I encourage everyone to continue to practise good hygiene habits and exercise social responsibility. JCC will also continue to showcase different facets of Japan and Japanese culture, so do look forward to our upcoming events for the rest of the year.
