The opening ceremony of ‘Ballad of Nature’ – an exhibition by Ohara School of Ikebana, Singapore Chapter was held at JCC (Japan Creative Centre) on Thursday, 22 March 2018. A total of about 25 floral arrangements done in the style of Ohara are showcased, expressing the beauty and soft colours of the natural landscape together, like a melodious ballad.

Our JCC Director Ms. Akiko Sugita commenced the ceremony with a welcoming speech, followed by an opening remark by President of Ohara School of Ikebana, Singapore Chapter Ms. Daisy Koh. A bouquet of flowers was also presented to our Director from Ms. Daisy Koh as a token of appreciation to JCC. Many guests and members of the school continued to view the exhibition and enjoyed the wonderful works displayed harmoniously at JCC.

JCC has been working closely with Ohara School of Ikebana, Singapore Chapter which was established almost 34 years ago. Tracing back to the late 19th century, the Ohara School is led by the current and Fifth Headmaster Hiroki Ohara in Japan, who has innovated new ways to express beauty in his arrangement while still maintaining the main ideals of the Ohara School.
