In conjunction with "COOL JAPAN MONTH", Japan Creative Centre (JCC) is organizing the Japan Media Arts Festival Exhibition which focuses on award-winning works from the Japan Media Arts Festival, leading-edge Japanese works of media arts including manga, animation, games, interactive art and so on. This exhibition aims to deepen the understanding of Japan’s creative capability through the introduction of the outstanding media art of Japan.
SUMMARY OF EVENTS: 1. Opening Ceremony and Tour of Exhibition

Visitors will be invited to the Opening Ceremony of the Japan Media Arts Festival Exhibition with Minister Hiroyuki Yamamoto, Director of JCC, in attendance. A tour of the exhibition will then commence.

Mr. Onishi, the artist of “restriction sight”, will be providing a live demonstration by using LED Light to create unique images in a dark space. These images can then be captured on a camera to see the special effects created. Visitors are also invited to a reception where light refreshments will be served.
2. Special Lecture by Prof Masa Inakage

Creativity is becoming one of the key values in our society. Creative Society is the fast growing sector in various countries that reflects the value of creativity. This talk presented by Prof Inakage discusses the importance of "soft power" in this emerging Creative Society.

PROFILE OF YASUAKI ONISHI
Yasuaki Onishi studied sculpture at University of Tsukuba and Kyoto City University of Arts. During his studies he began to experiment with the potential of light. His works include installations, sculptures, photographs and drawings. In 2005 he received the Jury Recommended Work award at the 9th Japan Media Arts Festival for restriction sight. Other awards and grants followed. Yasuaki Onishi held a stipend from The Pollock-Krasner Foundation, Inc. in 2010.
PROFILE OF MASA INAKAGE
Masa Inakage is Dean and Professor at the Graduate School of Media Design, Keio University. An internationally-reknowned digital artist, director, and producer, Prof Inakage is one of Japan's leading authorities on emerging technologies and digital entertainment content production. His artworks and animation works have been shown internationally at galleries and festivals. Prof Inakage is actively involved in variety of projects, including feature films, broadcast programs and interactive content, and consults to companies to build strategies using storytelling and experience design methodologies.
