Award-winning scientist, Dr. Shibata Takanori from the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology, Japan,is the inventor of Paro, the seal-shaped robot. Paro has been used as an alternative form of animal therapy in hospitals and care facilities. Through intelligent interaction, it positively affects patient psychology by reducing patient stress levels and improving socialisation.
