Cosfest IX: Let's make Friends

On July 3 and 4 Cosfest IX was held in Downtown East. This year 3 cosplay champions each from Malaysia, Philippines and South Korea joined it and competed for JAL round trip air tickets to Japan. I served as a judge for competitions and a witness of signing of MOU among representatives of those countries. Franky of One Piece (Singapore) and KOS-MOS of Xenosaga (Philippines) won the prize.

We also selected a Singaporean representative for World Cosplay Summit 2010 to be held in Nagoya on August 1. This year the national champion was the couple in the middle of the photo below. They disguised themselves as warrior Yun Fang and Bahamut from role-playing game Final Fantasy XIII.

Franky was just like him in Anime "One Piece" as you can see below. His performance was excellent. He sang and danced, spraying hair spray on his blue head, which illuminated each time. Final Fantasy pair was authentic. Their costumes were very well done and fighting performance was splendid! A Philippine girl who played KOS-MOS turned out 14 years old. Her mother gave me a name card of her daughter as cosplayer. She may aim to be a professional cosplayer.

Downtown East was filled with huge crowd, many of them in cosplay, according to Straits Times over ten thousands. They enjoyed the cosplay events as well as anime shops and maid cafe.
